The presence of foreign nationals is a social phenomenon with consequences and threats from various perspectives. Most of the foreign nationals in the country are Afghan nationals who have immigrated to Iran due to cultural, linguistic, security, labor market, etc. The main problem of such nationals is their illegal entry and residence in the country and their impact of presence could be examined from different social, economic, cultural, and political as well as security perspectives. According to the subject, the purpose of this study is to identify the effects, consequences and threats of the presence of foreign nationals on the country and provide appropriate solutions to deal with this phenomenon. The present applied study is a descriptive-analytical research which reviews existing documents (primary and secondary sources) to explain the concepts, principles and strategies in the field of pathology of presence threats of illegal foreign nationals and their presence effects on security, economy, society, culture and health dimensions of Iran. The results show that weaknesses in the existing laws, lack of adequate budget for arresting and expelling illegal foreign nationals, multiplicity of decision-making bodies, border gaps, and prejudices have led to the continued presence of illegal foreign nationals and, consequently, society has suffered the negative consequences of their presence. And expulsion of illegal aliens and increase the cost of committing such a crime are among the tools that can eradicate the phenomenon of illegal immigrants.
